Position Summary
Paper Moon Services provides grant writing, fundraising and development services to nonprofits throughout the US. We are seeking a freelance, part time grant writer to support grant acquisition including researching and analyzing grant fit, writing LOIs proposals and grants, proofing and editing grant reports, newsletters, and other development media and material, creating and updating grant award metrics, and creating funding projections.
This position will start at 3-10 hours a week. It is fully remote, with flexible hours.
Job Functions/Responsibilities
Grant Research:
Seek new viable funding through foundations, municipalities, state and federal government sources, matching grants, employee match programs, and business grants
Provide analytics on viability, research on board, history, mission, and previously granted opportunities from foundations.
Research based on win-rates, viability, and more to determine funding projections.
Understand compliance, criteria, eligibility, and requirements from funders
Compile necessary information on application processes and timelines.
Manage and communicate deadlines
Grant Writing:
Draft LOIs, grants, and proposals under direction from development staff.
Revise, editing and updating content based on input from clients.
Propose alternative approaches and introducing statements of impact based on professional experience.
Evaluate existing grant content for clarity, impact, and effectiveness.
Understand basics of programs budgets and writing budget narratives.
Development materials:
Edit development materials including emails, newsletters, appeals, and outreach materials for clarity and effectiveness
Insight and research into effective communication and storytelling for nonprofits
Help maintain Community Centric Fundraising principals in all outward communication
May contribute to blog and social media content as desired
Desired skills
Impeccable deadline management and ability to manage multiple tasks
High commitment to proofing and editing, or understand your technical writing weaknesses and proactively collaborate to improve end results
Ability to perform high level analysis and make well calculated decisions based on values, viability, effort, and long term investment.
Proven track record working remotely, with little oversight to successfully and meet and exceed deadlines.
Familiarity and commitment to AFP code of ethical standards and Community Centric Fundraising principles
Understanding of complicated written English grammar is a plus.
Grant writing experience is not required. Other skills such as time management, attention to detail, editing, and analytical skills will be strongly considered.
Hours
This position will start at approximately 3-10 hours per week with the ability to increase or decrease as needed and with clear communication.
Work hours are flexible, as is location. Expected response time to emails is 24 hours, unless otherwise stated.
Salary
This is a freelance position, hourly rate starts at $24/hr with the opportunity to increase.
